Asking for help with wife

hello everyone, my wife wants nothing to do with my awakening.

every time i try explaining something she tells me she doesn't want to hear it.

i believe she's afraid of learning something she's not ready for.

Hello everyone, my wife wants nothing to do with my awakening. Every time I try explaining something she tells me she doesn't want to hear it. I believe she's afraid of learning something she's not ready for. I'm not ready to give up on her learning the ttat.

Do you have any suggestions with something quick I could say that would get her to think before she tells me she doesn't want to hear it? She hates to be lied to so maybe something along those lines. However, ANY ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Outside JW World They Barely Exist

is anyone else staggered by the fact that outside of the organization most of the general public seem to know very little or nothing about jw’s?

when i was in i was led to believe that 99% of the worlds population had been giving sufficient warning, knew what it was all about and were stubbornly sticking to their immoral ways.

the reality seems to be that the entire jw universe is barely noticeable to the masses.

Normal things you missed out on as a kid (besides holidays)

since me and my siblings had to go to service every saturday, and i mean every saturday, i missed out on something so normal as watching good ole saturday morning cartoons from the 70's and 80's.

i remember wishing i could stay home just one saturday so i could watch cartoons.

but noooo we had to go save lives!

It's just so crazy all the crap, embarrassment, shame, etc we were forced to suffer for NOTHING!

Since me and my siblings had to go to service every Saturday, and I mean EVERY Saturday, I missed out on something so normal as watching good ole Saturday morning cartoons from the 70's and 80's. I remember wishing I could stay home just one Saturday so I could watch cartoons. But noooo we had to go save lives! I never did save any lives as a result of Saturday service. I was so envious of worldly kids.

What normal thing do you wish you could have done as a kid?

since half of them ended up at my house on friday and saturday nights i was given a very shining report card.

he then told me that he would knock on my door bright and early in the morning to take me to breakfast with him and his wife.

a couple of them told they enjoy the articles i write in the art magazines and they were really happy to meet me.

I was searching for another topic and stumbled on to this post. Damn am I glad I did! It's a short novel but puts everything into perspective. Everything from starting his awakening while working temporarily in bethel to starting his new life outside the idiotic trenches of jw world. Awesome story!

"Deficit" at JW Assembly

i've recently been at an assembly here in romania and there was an announced they were running a 10,000 euro deficit and urging all attendees to donate more money besides the already 5k has was donated during that day.

i really don't understand these things.

it's their own assembly hall.

I was circuit accounts servant for 6 years until I stepped down as an elder because of my awakening. I can honestly say that at times we tried as hard as we could to be dishonest with the the brothers. If the time for the accounts report was coming up shortly and we were doing good with contributions, the assembly overseer would change the wording to make it sound as if we still needed more money to cover expenses even though we had more than enough.

Strip off the old personality

yesterday’s watchtower talked about how by becoming a jw it enabled “worldly” people to ‘strip off the old personality’ and make really significantly good changes in their life.. paragraph named 4 individuals (anonymous names of course and probably embellished tales)) sakura, ribeiro, stephen, and hans.

their lives changed for the good because they found god or because they became jw’s---right?.

so on the way home from this wt meeting, my wife commented to me how wonderful our brotherhood is and how it helps people who would otherwise be ‘lost’ n this world.

A half-brother of mine in California had been in gangs his whole life. Did time in prison and everything else that comes with gang life. At about 40 years of age, while in prison, he became a born again Christian. He stopped all his gang activities and transformed into a different person. What helped him change? It certainly wasn't the witnesses or Jehovah. Jws, no matter what they wish to believe, do not have a monopoly on changing peoples lives for the better. Many organizations and religions have the same effect on people. Jws choose to ignore that fact.

Yea the voice is somewhat strange but the information, though he applied it to all religions, really hits home when it comes to the indoctrination one receives as a jw.

A few days ago, thanks to someone's post on here (sorry I forgot who it was), I found an awesome YouTube channel called TheraminTrees. The videos this guy has made are amazing! I'm sure others here have seen some of his videos. They have to do with different subjects such as losing faith, conformity, grooming minds, etc. I highly recommend this channel.
